20 Inch Big Blue PP Sediment Filter – 5 Micron Sediment Filtration
The 20 inch Big Blue PP Sediment Filter – 5 Micron is a melt-blown depth cartridge constructed from 100 % polypropylene designed for effective removal of suspended solids in water systems. With a nominal 5 micron rating, this filter captures larger particles such as sand, rust, silt, and dirt, extending the life of downstream filtration components like carbon filters and reverse osmosis membranes. Its Big Blue (4.5″ diameter) format provides high dirt-holding capacity and longer service life compared to smaller cartridges. Ideal for whole-house pre-filtration, municipal supply conditioning, well water filtration, and commercial systems. Compatible with all standard 20″ Big Blue housings.
Sizing Guide
- Whole House Filtration: 20″ Big Blue is recommended for higher flow and longer life compared to standard 10″ cartridges.
- Micron Selection:
• 5 micron: Ideal as primary sediment stage when water has moderately high particulate levels.
• 1 micron: For finer sediment removal (less flow, more frequent changes).
• 10 micron: For very coarse sediment with minimal restriction.
Timing Recommendations
| Water Condition | Recommended Change Interval |
| Light sediment | ~9–12 months |
| Moderate sediment | ~6–9 months |
| Heavy sediment | ~4–6 months |
